Advanced Twitter Tutorial: the custom link

by peggyd April 25th has one comment already!

Create a custom message link to use for retweet requests, invite people to talk to you, or more.  Use your imagination, I bet once you get this down, you’ll find a way to use it!  (Thanks to @marismith who clued me in how to do this months ago!)

Step 1

Create the link text – here’s my example:

http://twitter.com/home?status=%40freerangemom looking forward to tweeting with you.

(Note do not put the spaces in. Snipurl does that for you.)

Step 2

Shrink the link text in snipurl.com.  Here’s what my shortened link looks like:  http://sn.im/fzchq

Step 3:

Send a tweet that ask tweepl to open the link, or post it in your web page.  When people click on the link, here’s what they see in their Twitter home page:

link-text1

Code Key:

%40 = @

%20 = space, (see note above, leave all spaces as a real space when putting into snipurl then the %20 goes in automatically)

%23 = #

%27 = ‘
